Over time this mask has adopted the name of “shrek mask” as the color of this mask has that very shrek green color. After years of doing “organic” homemade masks, I have finally settled on this mask which I swear by. It is simple, fast, easy, cheap and most of all works wonders on my skin. Today I’ll be sharing the ingredients to this magical mask.
Disclamer: I am not a skincare specialist. Please patch test on your skin before trying the mask. My skin type is on the dry side of the spectrum, but during summer and sometimes during winter I get a lot of clogged pores with whiteheads and some blackheads. And not to forget that round that time of the month… I get some pesky hormonal acne. I’ll also add that my skin scars easily and I get some hyper pigmentation ( probably from squeezing acne I’m not supposed to but let’s face it I know I’m not the only one guilty of this crime )
The main ingredient to this face mask is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay. A lot of beauty bloggers swears by this to clear pores and I must say it works wonders on its own. But, by adding some extra ingredients I found that it added an extra boost to my skin.
Turmeric is another key ingredient in this face mask and it’s what gives it that Shrek color when it’s mixed with the clay. Turmeric has anti inflammatory properties and helps calm acne and acne scars. I also add yoghurt for moisturizing and some honey, another go to for fighting acne with it’s antioxidants, antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
For one face mask I’ll use:
1 tbsp Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay
1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Yoghurt
1 tsp Honey
( a little water to thin out the mixture)
Don’t forget to use non metal utensils when using the clay mask. I’ll usually leave on the mask for about 10 mins, just until it starts feeling tight and then wash off with a washcloth and lukewarm water. Pat my face dry with a dry towel and then continue with my moisturizing routine. Let me know if you try this !
